Chicago Neighborhoods That Make A Great Home For Newcomers

Chicago is an excellent city for newcomers. The busy city is made up of seventy-seven architecturally delightful neighborhoods. Although very large and busy, Chicago has excellent public transportation to make commutes and travel more accessible. The city offers the "L" train, a multitude of bus routes, the Pedway (a system of underground pedestrian tunnels designed to travel on foot without the obstacle of traffic), biking, and various ride-sharing programs.

 Although known for its towering skyscrapers and windiness, Chicago is also a premier destination for upscale shopping and dining. The city celebrates culture and diversity with fun events and traditions, some of which date back to the early 1960s. For example, every St. Patrick's Day, the Chicago River is transformed into bright emerald green to celebrate the day. In addition, Chicago is an iconic music city and celebrates multiple festivities and events throughout the year. It's a city that is welcoming, diverse, and with opportunity. It's an excellent place for newcomers as a whole, but today we're sharing the best neighborhoods that make a great home for newcomers. 

Living In Chicago

Before you pack your bags for the windy city, let’s review a few awesome things about living in Chicago that you might not be aware of.

  • Chicago holds many job opportunities in a variety of sectors. It’s a great place to establish and grow your career.
  • The city offers a lot of high-quality education.
  • Chicago has excellent public transportation options.
  • If sports are your thing, then you're in luck. Chicago has several professional sports teams waiting to be cheered on.
  • The city offers plenty of family-friendly events, attractions, and festivities.

Lakeview

Lakeview, or Lake View as it's also known as a terrific neighborhood for newcomers. It's located on the city's North Side and offers spectacular views of Lake Michigan. Lakeview has a picturesque shoreline with plenty of entertainment in close proximity. Residents can enjoy a variety of live music venues, street festivals, and stand-up comedy. In addition, the neighborhood also has a breathtaking lakefront trail, an exceptional golf course, and many popular attractions and restaurants. It's a great neighborhood to make a home for newcomers. In addition, it's situated only 7 miles north of downtown, making commute times short! 

Lincoln Park

Lincoln Park is a fantastic neighborhood for newcomers. It features meticulously manicured gardens, lush green trees, and a free zoo. Lincoln Park is a great place to make a home for newcomers who enjoy the outdoors. It has an indoor botanical garden, world-class dining, and many boutiques disguised as old historic homes. Located only two miles from the Magnificent Mile, Lincoln Park offers an extraordinary number of things to do, beautiful cuisine, and architecturally significant landmarks. 

Bucktown

Bucktown is easily one of the trendiest neighborhoods in Chicago. It's an upscale community with a lot of small-town charm. Bucktown is located in the Logan Square community. It has the benefit of being close to downtown, Logan Park, and plenty of modern cafes. It's artsy, vibrant, and a fantastic place to make a home for newcomers!

Wicker Park

Wicker Park is nearby Bucktown. It is an artsy neighborhood perfect for newcomers. It radiates a hipster-like culture with plenty of music venues and pubs. Wicker Park is located west of Pulaski Park and offers residents many outdoor recreation opportunities. It's a charming neighborhood with gorgeous parks and a bubbling artsy scene.

River North

The neighborhood of River North was once an industrial sector of the city. Now, it's a fashionable trend-setting community with some of the city's most iconic shopping. River North offers many luxury high-rise condominium buildings and lofts hidden inside old industrial buildings. The neighborhood has a charming appeal with plenty of amenities.

Hyde Park

Hyde Park is a culturally diverse neighborhood. It is home to a variety of architecture and the giant educational institution, the University of Chicago. Hyde Park is nearby downtown Chicago and is an ideal location for newcomers. The neighborhood offers several excellent schools, fantastic educational institutions, and many exciting local attractions. 

South Loop

The south loop is one of the most vibrant neighborhoods in Chicago. With its convenient location near downtown, the south loop is perfect for anyone who wants to be close to the action. Plus, there are plenty of great shopping and dining options in the area. Whether you're looking for a new place to call home or an investment property, a condo is a great option. South Loop condos for sale have a median range of $ 400k which made it a most affordable neighbourhood in Chicago.

Logan Square

The Logan Square neighborhood is a great neighborhood for newcomers. It's abundant with majestic leafy trees and historical buildings. The streets are lined with a mix of older family homes and restored lofts hidden inside large commercial buildings. Logan Square is a thriving community with plenty of artsy shops, boutiques, and events. 

Finally

Chicago is abundant with excellent neighborhoods equipped with everything you need to set some roots and make a cozy home. The city has many diverse and unique communities with many amenities and events. In addition, Chicago has great schools and terrific employment opportunities. It's a terrific place for newcomers, and the above neighborhoods are exceptional.
