Unique Tiny Home Living Designs

Tiny home living has been all the rage for the last decade or so. Many tiny homeowners are seeking cost-effective housing with a reduced footprint. However, just because you choose to live in a tiny home doesn’t mean you have to sacrifice style. This guide covers a few unique tiny home living designs.

Log Cabin Style

Log cabins are small and rustic and give off a cozy vibe. Create that same appeal with your tiny home by investing in a log cabin tiny home. Design your home with natural wood materials and create a firepit outdoors.

Decorate using woodsy colors and designs. Play around with various wood styles and designs to create something that reflects your personality.

The great thing about log cabin styles is that many of the materials used are considered durable. Choose high-quality wood when designing your home for a low-effort, low-maintenance option.

Industrial Style

An industrial-style tiny home offers straight, clean lines with raw brick or concrete materials. Go with an exposed brick wall, or choose natural concrete floors. Decorate your tiny home with various neutral colors, including grays and tans. Industrial-style furniture can help complete the design.

Textiles, rustic, and shiplap are also popular design themes used in industrial styles. You might also go with skirting boards indoors, which are great for tying various elements together.

Tropical/Coastal Themed

Bring the beach to you with a tropical/coastal-themed tiny house. Choose large windows, tropical colors, and a clean, open design plan.

If you’re lucky enough to have a tiny home located near the water, be sure to design your tiny home with large display windows to let in the beautiful views.

Decorate using bright, bold colors and beach-theme designs. Landscape the outdoor area with large, natural palm trees and vibrant, native flowers. Don’t forget a small outdoor seating area to enjoy the beautiful weather. A small outdoor shower can also be useful for washing off the sand before entering your home.

Modern Design

Enjoy the same modern design trending in today’s houses but with a smaller footprint. A modern design includes an open floor plan with natural, modern accents. An open floor plan is possible, even in a tiny home. A simple, two-room design usually includes a main living space with a bedroom and kitchen and a separate bathroom with a door.

Be sure to incorporate a lot of natural light and functionality to achieve the modern design pattern. Landscape the exterior as you might any other home, regardless of its size.

Cottage Life

Enjoy cottage life while in a tiny home, even if you’re far from the beach. Fill the home with large, comfortable furniture pieces in dark greens and browns. Incorporate colors of honey and tan to give the laid-back, casual design theme cottages often have. Large windows allow for more natural light while also making outdoor views a part of the cottage’s decor.

Artistic Haven

Creative types will enjoy an artistic haven with bright, bold colors and fun designs. There are no rules when designing an artistic home except that you like it. Fill the home with bold red or pink furniture, and choose loud, shaggy rugs.

Add colorful designs to your cabinets and counters, and don’t forget to fill the walls with fun, discussion-topic pieces of artwork.

Designing your artistic tiny home can also be an ongoing project. Don’t rush to complete it, as filling it with your favorite designs is one of the best parts.

Minimal Upgrades That Can Make a Huge Difference

Already have your tiny home designed to suit your personality and style preferences, but craving an upgrade? You don’t have to spend a fortune to give your tiny home a design upgrade. Adding a new coat of paint or changing out your decor can be a cost-effective remodeling method.

Replacing the tiny home’s doors can also make a huge difference. Instead of traditional doors, consider something more unique, like replacement shed doors. Not only will a shed door give your tiny home a unique personality, but it will also help keep heating and cooling costs affordable.

Choose a traditional design, like fiberglass, or go with something more unique, like a wooden door.

You might also upgrade your home’s exterior. New paint or strategic landscaping can give your tiny home the new design it deserves. Because tiny home living offers a more cost-effective way of life, you can continue to upgrade your home as your design needs change. The durability of tiny homes is great for continual remodeling.

Tiny home living offers many benefits, including lower costs and less waste. Don’t give up your design dreams when choosing a tiny home life. Tiny homeowners can enjoy many of the same benefits of home design. The smaller footprint of the home offers even more room for creativity and fun.
